We firmly believe that the mission of a school's staff is to help young men and women develop into educated, compassionate and self-disciplined individuals who will stamp their mark in the world, making it a better place. Our students are consistently ranked high on academic standards, leading to MacArthur’s selection in the top 100 schools in New York State selected by the Washington Post as one of the Most Challenging High Schools in the United States. With a graduation rate of 99%, 96% of our graduates attain Regents diplomas with 69% of those qualifying for Advanced Regents Diploma status. 93% attend college immediately after graduation. MacArthur H.S. has been proud to claim National Merit Scholarship Winners, Intel Semi-Finalists, AP Scholars and a host of other successful students from all programs who exemplify our “Once a General, Always a General” motto. Whether they are in the academic arena, on the athletic fields or performing community service, our students continue to make us proud. Our athletic program has garnered awards both on Long Island and in New York State and continues to attract a large number of participants and support from parents and community members.
